Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)

 Medical Plan Updates: 06/28/2021

UnitedHealthCare (UHC):

  • UHC reminded members of the importance of testing in slowing down the spread of COVID-19. Members are encouraged to use two types of FDA-authorized COVID-19 tests:
    • Diagnostic tests to determine if they are currently infected with the virus
    • Antibody tests to determine if they might have been infected with the virus
  • Members will continue to have zero cost-share (copayment, coinsurance, or deductible) on medically appropriate COVID-19 testing during the national public health emergency period, currently scheduled to end July 19, 2021.
    • Tests must be ordered by a physician or health care professional for the purposes of diagnosis or treatment
    • Tests must be FDA-authorized
    • Unless required by law, UHC does not cover tests for employment, education, travel, public health, or surveillance purposes
