Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)

  Medical Plan Updates: 6/29/2020

Kaiser Permanente (Kaiser)

  • Members were provided information on the differences between diagnostic and antibody COVID-19 testing, including test requirements, costs, and reliability of testing
    • Specifically, diagnostic testing is available to members with current COVID-19 infections and antibody testing is available (at member’s request only) to those with no current COVID-19 symptoms or past COVID-19 infections
  • Members were provided safety steps for helping to slow the spread of COVID-19, when participating in protests and demonstrations. Steps include:
  • Attending the event with people you’ve sheltered with
  • Practicing physical distancing, when possible
  • Wearing a face covering over your mouth and nose
  • Wearing eye protection
  • Carrying a sign to share your message, rather than shouting or singing
  • Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer during and after the event
  • Not sharing phones or other personal items
  • Staying at home if you’re sick

UnitedHealthCare (UHC)

  • Through September 30, 2020, UHC will waive cost sharing for members seeking COVID-19 telehealth support, with in- and out-of-network providers, and members seeking non COVID-19 related telehealth support, with in-network providers

Anthem Blue Cross

  • Anthem provided the latest legislative impacts on coverage requirements for COVID-19 testing
    • Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, entities providing major medical coverage are required to cover COVID-19 diagnostic testing and specified testing-related services with zero cost-sharing, on or after March 18, 2020, and throughout the Public Health Emergency period; however, this does not mandate coverage of testing for employment purposes (“return to work”) or public health surveillance
