Managing Stress During COVID-19

Adjusting to the changes imposed on our lives due to the COVID-19 outbreak can be incredibly challenging. For Los Angeles County employees this may be particularly difficult, as we are stilled called to work every day to support our community while managing our own needs and the needs of our loved ones.  We are also constantly hearing news and getting information about COVID-19 that can be distressing and overwhelming.  Because of all these reasons, it is important for us to be mindful of our stress levels and to take proactive steps to manage our anxiety.

We encourage you to take advantage of the excellent mental health resources that are available to us. Immediate resources for all Los Angeles County residents and employees can be found at The Department of Mental Health’s Access Line 1-800-854-7771 can also help direct individuals to mental health support, resources and referrals twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

In addition, Mental Health counseling through the County’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services is available telephonically and free of charge to all County employees.  To schedule an appointment with one of our EAP providers, please call 213-433-7202 Monday through Friday.  More information about EAP can be found in the link below.

The Department of Human Resources has also put together a collection of useful articles and videos on how to manage stress during pandemic outbreaks. Please take some time to browse the resources listed below.  This list will be periodically updated as more resources become available.
