Paid Family Leave (PFL) Pilot Program
Paid Family Leave (PFL) is a valuable program that makes it easier for you to take time off to care for a family member without being worried about your income. The pilot will launch on January 1, 2025, and will run through December 31, 2026.

PFL is available to active, full-time permanent, non-represented employees who are eligible for MegaFlex/Flex cafeteria benefit plans.
To find out if you are eligible:
- Go to the County of Los Angeles’ (County) Class and Salary Listing, Alphabetical Order, by clicking HERE.
- Find your Classification/Item description and reference the last column titled Bargaining Unit.
- If your assigned Bargaining Unit is listed either as 990, 991, 995, 996, 998, or 999, you are a non-represented MegaFlex or Flex employee and you are eligible to enroll in the PFL Pilot program.
- If you are unsure of your Classification/Item description, contact your payroll unit for assistance.
*Superior Court and Grand Jury employees are not eligible to participate in the PFL Pilot program.

Eligible employees will have the option to purchase 70% income replacement in weekly increments, for a maximum of eight weeks over the two-year PFL Pilot program. Participating employees must elect a minimum of one week of income replacement benefits.
A week is defined as a period of 40 hours.
You can use your PFL to care for qualifying family members with a serious health condition including a spouse, domestic partner, child, parent, parent-in-law, sibling, grandparent, grandchild or a designated person.
PFL is available for taking time to bond following the birth of a new child, or after the placement of an adopted or foster child.
PFL can also be used to take time to care of family needs if you have a spouse, domestic partner, child, or parent who is a member of the Armed Forces and they are called to active duty for foreign deployment.
