Medical Plan Updates: 5/9/2022
Kaiser Permanente (Kaiser)
- Kaiser provided members the following information on COVID-19 self-tests:
- When to use a self-test
- If you have symptoms, think you’ve been exposed to COVID-19, or plan to gather indoors with those who may be at risk, including unvaccinated children, seniors, and those who are immunocompromised
- How to get a COVID-19 self-test at no cost and without a doctor’s order
- Federal government: every home is eligible to order up to eight free self-tests at gov
- Kaiser website, app, or pharmacy: members can access org/covidtests, use the mobile app, or visit a Kaiser pharmacy
- Retail pharmacy: members can visit participating retail pharmacies and show their photo id and Kaiser member id card. A list of participating retailers can be found at org
- What members should do if they receive a positive result
- If you receive a positive result from a COVID-19 self-test, you should complete an e-visit. It will be added to your medical record and you will receive guidance on treatment, isolation, and quarantine. For questions or concerns about positive results or symptoms, visit org/getcare
- Check your COVID-19 self-test expiration date
- The Food and Drug Administration has extended the shelf life of the iHealth brand of COVID-19 self-tests. To see the new expiration date, visit https://ihealthlabs.com/pages/news and enter the test’s lot number
- When to use a self-test
